Andrea Edlbauer

Andrea Edlbauer is currently a master’s student in saxophone performance at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.

LefreQue makes playing the saxophone feel more natural. It increases my sound flexibility and has given me the ability to further find and define my own sound on the instrument.


Andrea was born in 1990 in Hofkirchen, Austria. She studied Instrumental- und Gesangspädagogi bwith Peter Rohrsdorfer at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Upper Austria, and received her master´s degree, with distinction, in 2015. She also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg Schulmusik (music education) and Biology at the Natural Science University Salzburg and completed her Master’s degree there in 2017.

Since 2014 she has taught saxophone in the Upper Austrian music school system OÖ Landesmusikschulwerk. Andrea has attended masterclasses with Jean-Denis Michat, Gordan Tudor, Otis Murphy, Philippe Geiss, Jean Yves Fourmeau and the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet. She has performed concerts at the Musikverein Wien, ORF Radiokulturhaus Wien, Brucknerhaus Linz, Museumsquartier Wien, and the Großes Studio Mozarteum in Salzburg. In December 2018 Andrea was invited as an instrumental soloist at the Birthday Special of Eurovision Song Contest winner Conchita Wurst at the Museumsquartier Wien.

Andrea is a member of the saxophone quartet saXTon. In April 2018 the quartet performed as soloists with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies.
In 2019, Andrea released the CD Imago, featuring solo works from Barry Cockcroft and Jacob Ter Veldhuis as well as her quartet.
